In the heart of the Medina of Tunis, just 150 meters from the Zitouna Mosque, on one of the most vibrant and colorful streets of the souks, Rue de la Kasbah, the restaurant "Dar Slah" welcomes you into a warm and inviting setting, offering a journey through the authentic flavors of Tunisian cuisine.
From traditional dishes to original creationscrafted by its chef and owner, Sadri Smoali, you can savor the delightful flavors of Tunisian cuisine.
Legacy
& History
It all began at the start of the last century, at the market stalls of Tunis fairs, with Slah Smoali, the patriarch. There, he served seafood delicacies in all their forms. This experience flourished, and from market stalls, he went on to manage beachfront restaurants during the summer season.
Thus, the first "Chez Slah" was born on the beach of Amilcar, eventually settling permanently in downtown Tunis.
In 1988, Sadri, the eldest son, took up the torch of "Chez Slah" and carried on his father's legacy for 22 years, until he fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant, "Dar Slah," in the Medina of Tunis, where he could share his passion for family-style, traditional, and authentic Tunisian cuisine.

At Dar Slah, the cuisine is fresh and original. It begins with the choice of raw materials. Sadri goes to the Central Market in Tunis to select the best, freshest and most seasonal produce to concoct the menu of the day.
Madfouna, couscous with osben, gnawiya - traditional dishes that will have you salivating, but also new, authentic creations straight from the chef's spirit of adventure, such as couscous with squid ink, marquit boufriwa bel bakri (hazelnut stew with veal) or the very latest, quince stuffed with whiting.
